July ’24 // YOUR ULTIMATE ARGENTINEAN WINE PACK!

From blazing fiery asado fire cooked dinners to mouth watering seafood there are so many options to pair with these wines this month. We decided to focus on a newer to us producer from Argentina (Bellena Del Sur)

So what’s the down-low and why should you care? Let’s get into it a little bit

Ballena Del Sur

Sebastian Zuccardi is one of Argentina's most respected winemakers and we are delighted to have this new pair of wines in house from him that are a step above the standard but still really over deliver. Both are produced from organically grown grapes from higher altitude vineyards in Mendoza. They are full of South American sunshine but balanced and fresh. Sebastian's winemaking really lets the quality of the .

fruit shine through The white is a blend of Semillon and Torrontes, a lovely aromatic grape variety, while the red is straight Malbec with scents of violets and dark berries.  The name, Ballena del Sur, is in honour of the Southern Right Whale, which inhabits the oceans south of the equator, and is seen along the coast of Argentina. The artwork on the label is inspired by the whales' eyes and the flesh of a grape.

2022 Semillon-Torrentes | Mendoza | Argentina

In terms of notes think:

A blend of organic, waxy, green semillon and floral, stone fruity torrontes grown in the cool and volcanic Uco Valley. Soft n’ subtle floral aromatics, pristine lychee, pulpy grapefruit juice, green nectarine, candle dipping & a zippy lemon pith ending. Enjoy with fresh pan seared sea bass and fresh grilled seasonal bitter greens.

2022 Malbec | Mendoza | Argentina

In terms of tasting notes think:

This particular wine is a collaboration between Sebastian Zuccardi and Les Caves de Pyrene. They’ve teamed up to create this fresh, light, modern iteration of the classic Argentinian Malbec. It has those classic rich brambly-plummy flavours, with a fresh acidity and pretty notes of violet and fresh herbs. Definitely superb with a skirt or flank steak. Would also go great with our house made pastured beef burgers.

Be well and keep quenching that
thirst for wine and life!
